Free State Riding Club is a family-oriented, volunteer run schooling horse show organization located in Bowie, Maryland. In existence for well over 50 years, our mission is to help the horse community remain successful through development of green horses and inexperienced/new riders. We offer classes at all age levels and rider expertise in both English and Western disciplines. Our classes are designed to help each rider improve his/her skills in English and Western riding. Our English riding divisions include Equitation, Hunter, Schooling, and Pleasure. Our Western riding divisions include Horsemanship, Pleasure, Working Horse, and Speed. There are showmanship and trail pattern classes in the equitation and horsemanship division. We also have variations of these disciplines for very young and/or beginner/novice riders, young and/or green horses, and riders over 45 years of age.
Our Club’s membership functions more like a family. Member costs are deliberately kept low, with no hidden or administration fees. Our horse shows are held monthly, on the third Saturday of each month, April through October, starting at 9:00 a.m. Our traveling trail rides are always held on Sundays, in April, May, June, September, October, and November. This website contains all the information you need to join the club, ride in shows and our traveling trail rides, and check on show results. Click on the sidebar buttons, walk through our site, and join us for our 2016 season.
